A Beauty Secret From Khloe Kardashian No Makeup at the Gym

Over the last decade, the Kardashians have become some of the foremost icons of fashion, health and beauty in the world. In fact, you would be hard pressed to pass by a grocery store magazine rack or tune into an entertainment news show without seeing some mention of the famous family.

Recently, Khloé Kardashian took to her website to discuss some of the health and beauty secrets that she uses in and around the gym. Obviously, keeping healthy requires regular exercise, but just as you wear different clothes to the gym, Khloé advocates switching up your beauty regimen before working out.

Minimize Your Makeup

When working out, Khloé says that she hardly wears any makeup at all. In fact, she often goes to the gym wearing only mascara and brow makeup on her face. While this routine may shock Khloé’s fans, who are accustomed to seeing the star looking glamorous on the red carpet and on magazine covers, this bare bones approach to makeup when hitting the gym does provide a number of benefits to your skin.

According to health and beauty experts, by not wearing makeup when you work out, you allow your skin to breathe more. Having heavy makeup on your face clogs your pores and inhibits your skin from sweating properly. Not only does this lack of sweat result in your skin not getting the hydration it needs when exercising, but not allowing your body to release sweat can also have a detrimental impact on your complexion. Wearing makeup during exercise can lead to a buildup of oil, acne breakouts and general irritation. So it really is in your best interest to go as bare as possible, just as Khloé does.

Post Workout Routine

In addition to keeping her makeup simple for the gym, Khloé also has a very strict post-gym routine. After working out, Khloé makes sure to wash her face in order to remove the built-up sweat and dirt that has accumulated. She recommends using Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser, and then following it up with a gentle exfoliator. This post-exercise wash will also help to open up your pores, release any clogged-up oil and keep your skin from breaking out.

While these beauty tips may seem basic, ignoring them could be detrimental to the health of your skin. If you’ve noticed that your regular workouts are leading to breakouts, consider following Khloé’s advice and go easy on the makeup at the gym.
