Cle De Peau Beaute Releasing World’s Most Expensive Skin Cream

Women are willing to spend a lot on their skin. In exchange for the promise of a wrinkle-free visage, consumers have been known to shell out hundreds of dollars (we’re looking at you, Crème de la Mer) for barely an ounce of product. But it’s skin, the first feature to show hints of age in the form of age spots, crow’s feet, dullness, and other unsightly conditions. Luxury cosmetic brand Cle De Peau Beaute—you may know them for the cult favorite concealer and powder—has recently revealed that they will be selling the world’s most expensive skin cream. The limited edition La Crème rings up at a shocking $13, 213 for just 50 grams.

Cle De Peau Beaute is quick to note that their extraordinarily-priced skin cream is an exclusive product. While the original La Crème sells for around $775, the new version—to be released September 15th—will have extensive upgrades. Only three limited edition La Crèmes will be made, so if you’re ready to swap out your Volkswagen Jetta for a jar of La Crème, start making your reservations now.

Prior to Cle De Peau Beaute La Crème, the title of most expensive skin cream rested on the laps of La Prairie Cellular Cream Platinum rare ($1,000) and Cle De Peau Beaute’s own Synactif Intensive Cream (also $1,000). But with a price tag close to that of a Thai college professor, La Crème easily wipes out any other contenders in the war for ultra-expensive skin creams. La Crème is staged to be released in September, and is packaged in 30 layers of opulent crystal by French jarmaker Crystal-Saint Louis. The jar also contains three platinum rings. As for the product itself, count on ingredients like retinol, cornflower, and melanin enhancers.

We admit: it would be nice to have a prized jar of La Crème sitting on our vanities. But for many women, spending that type of money on a 3-month supply just isn’t feasible. In-office skincare treatments like chemical peels, IPL Photofacials, and fractional laser resurfacing offer customized care administered by a skincare professional for far less than Cle De Peau Beaute’s miracle cream. Even injectables such as Botox and Juvederm are significantly less expensive than La Crème, and they offer immediate anti-aging results.

In order to catch the attention of aging women, Cle De Peau Beaute has enlisted 26-year old starlet Amanda Seyfried as spokesmodel for the cream. “As the exciting embodiment of luminous sophistication and natural radiance, Amanda Seyfried captures the very essence of Cle de peau Beaute,” says the company’s website. “She is pure of heart, vibrantly alive, and brings joy to the lives of others.”
