Leonardo DiCaprio and his Vitamin C Shower

Leonardo DiCaprio, who most recently starred in The Wolf of Wall Street recently made yet another investment, when he furnished his Greenwich Village apartment.

However, the new investment wasn’t so much financial as an investment in the health and look of his skin.

His new two bedroom, 2.5 bathroom apartment, valued at 10 million dollars, features everything you would expect from an A-list celebrity, but Leo also added something unexpected that will help him further prolong the aging process.

The addition is a vitamin C infused shower system.

The actor got the skin care trend from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, which features wellness rooms with these showers for demanding clientele.

“[These showers] promote healthier hair and skin,” the MGM Grand said in a statement.

There is currently little research and various opinions on the skin care benefits of the vitamin C infused showers.

Neal Langerman, officer of the American Chemical Society’s Division of Chemical Health and Safety, said that from a chemistry standpoint, vitamin C reacts with chlorine and consumes it, a concept proven by the United States Department of Agriculture. However, he claims that the filters are all hype.

“First off, chlorine and chloramines do not cross the skin barrier, nor does vitamin C,” Langerman told the Huffington Post. “[Also], I don’t think the reaction would be complete – the neutralization, if you will – by the time the water hits your head or flows down the drain.”

There’s no question that vitamin C is great for your skin, as it creates collagen and heals wounds. More and more companies are turning to vitamin C and E infused products to help promote the skin’s protective barrier.

But will this magical shower could keep Leo looking his best for even longer? Only time will tell.
