Levia Review: At-Home Psoriasis Treatment

levia review

The skin condition psoriasis afflicts over seven million people in the United States. The red, scaly patches that form on skin can range from mild irritation to severe pain and itchiness. For many psoriasis sufferers, the auto-immune disorder can be unbearable, and professional treatments and medications can be difficult to manage. Levia® is an individualized home treatment system that lets people care for their psoriasis from the privacy and comfort of their own home. Through therapeutic ultraviolet B light, Levia® helps control and heal small area and scalp psoriasis.

How Does Levia® Work?

Levia® offers Personal Targeted Phototherapy™ that safely keeps psoriasis under control. The system delivers precise, measured beams of UVB light to affected areas of skin through the use of two different attachments: LiteSpot™ and LiteBrush™. The Levia® LiteSpot™ is designed to treat plaques by using optical technology to apply a direct dose of UVB light to psoriasis without affecting surrounding skin. The LiteBrush™ is meant to treat scalp psoriasis by permeating the hair barrier with the help of quartz fiber-optic bristles. The rounded tips of the brush were specially designed to spread the light, avoiding the hair and hitting only the areas that need it.

The Levia® system consists of a console and ergonomic hand piece about the size of a hair dryer. It has a touchscreen control panel that makes it easy for patients to operate.

Results of Levia®

Each psoriasis patient is different, so depending on the severity of the skin condition, results of Levia® can vary. On average, people start to see visible results within the first four to eight treatments. Not only does the extent of the psoriasis affect the results of Levia®, but also a person’s skin tone, ethnicity and the location of the affected area. For the best possible results, each patient should follow the instructions provided with the system, as well as the advice provided by their doctor. Also, patients should not stop treatments before instructed, even if their psoriasis appears to be in remission. Stopping sessions too soon may result in psoriasis returning quickly.

Side Effects of Levia®

Levia® has been clinically proven to help treat psoriasis at home, but it is important to wary of any possible side effects that may occur. So far, very few side effects have been reported. After using the Levia® system, there may be a slight change in skin color, similar to getting a tan from natural sunlight. However, the targeted light reduces exposure of UVB to surrounding areas of skin, so tanning is less likely. Another side effect of Levia® is increased sensitivity to natural light, so patients should limit their exposure to sunlight.

Is Levia® Right For You?

Levia® has the power to provide incredible results quickly and efficiently, but it may not be the best solution for all psoriasis sufferers. Candidates for Levia® are those who respond positively to UVB phototherapy who may not have time to make frequent visits to their physician. It is not recommended for anyone with light sensitive diseases or a current or past history with Melanoma or similar conditions. Women who are nursing or pregnant should not use Levia®. The best way to determine if Levia® will work for you is to meet with a certified skincare specialist who can asses your psoriasis and past medical history.

If you are looking for an economical and efficient way to treat your psoriasis, Levia® may be the answer. Consult with a skincare professional today to find out more about this advanced phototherapy device. Give us a call and we’ll set up a meeting with one of our certified specialists.
