What Can You Learn from Kylie Jenner's Nighttime Skin Routine?

by April Maguire

The Kardashians and Jenners have become trendsetters in the world of fashion, beauty and everything in between. In particular though, over the last few years the baby of the family, Kylie Jenner, has grown into a force to be reckoned with when it comes to beauty products. Not only is Jenner known for her stunning looks, both on and off the red carpet, but her eponymous lip kits have been best-sellers, flying off the shelves as quickly as they can be restocked.

Without question, Kylie Jenner has the credentials to dole out skincare advice. One look at her flawless features is enough to tell you that the girl knows her stuff. Yet when it comes her nighttime skin routine, Jenner keeps things surprisingly simple, but that simplicity reveals a lot about what's important when it comes to prepping your skin before bed.

While You're Sleeping

As you probably know, your skin does most of its restorative work while during the night. While you're fast asleep, your skin is busy rejuvenating cells, flushing away toxins, distributing hydration and repairing damage. In short, there is no more important time for your skin than about midnight and eight a.m.

That being said, your evening skincare routine is crucial if you want the kind of beautiful, flawless skin for which Kylie Jenner is famous. And that's why Jenner's simple nighttime regimen is a little surprising. Recently, Jenner highlighted only two products that she uses before going to bed: the Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm and the Revitalizing Supreme+ Global Anti-Aging Cell Powder Creme, both from Estee Lauder.

First, the Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm is incredibly effective at removing makeup, dirt and grime, giving your skin a perfect, deep clean that gets rid of any impurities. The second product, the Anti-Aging Power Creme infuses your skin with hydration while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as boosting your skin's natural collagen production.

Even though these products seem simple, they highlight exactly what is important in a nighttime routine. First of all, the most crucial step is thoroughly cleansing your skin. If you allow dirt or makeup to remain on your skin overnight, that will lead to trapped oils, breakouts, irritation and discoloration, so a deep clean is a must. Secondly, proper hydration is key. Your body is mostly water, so give it what it thrives on. Before going to bed, make sure you use a high-quality moisturizer that will lock in hydration and help to eliminate the signs of aging.

If you want flawless, radiant skin, then having an effective nighttime routine is essential. And don't be afraid to follow Kylie's lead and keep it simple, so long as you take the necessary steps and use the right products to allow your skin to thrive.
