Artefill® dermal filler is the long awaited permanent injectable treatment. Used for several years in Europe under the name Artecoll, the enhanced version dubbed Artefill has finally been approved by the FDA. Artefill offers a step beyond other dermal injectables such as Restylane or BOTOX because Artefill provides results that can last and last. Other dermal fillers may only last 3 months to a year, but Artefill can last a lifetime.

Artefill is made from 80% bovine collagen and 20% Precision-Filtered Microspheres™. Artefill’s microspheres are composed of a synthetic polymer found in various medical implants. This polymer is what gives Artefill its long lasting appeal. These microspheres do not get absorbed into the body, but supply permanent support.

This revolutionary dermal filler is FDA approved for the correction of nasolabial folds aka laugh lines. Other common uses for Artefill are lip augmentation, chin augmentation, acne scar revision, and other facial wrinkle elimination. Artefill is not for everyone, this permanent dermal filler is recommended for patients who have undergone other dermal filler treatments such as Restylane or Radiesse.

How Long Does this Procedure Take?

Artefill injections can be performed in as little as 15 minutes. Artefill can achieve permanent results after 1 or 2 treatments, however, additional treatments are sometimes needed.

Artefill Side Effects:

Artefill side effects are rare, but include swelling, redness, lumpiness, and pain at the injection site.  A feeling of firmness after Artefill injections is common, and goes away with time.  Allergic reaction to the bovine collagen in Artefill is also possible.

No recovery time is required after Artefill injections. Avoiding strenuous activities, however, is recommended.
