An Overview

Fraxel® Laser Treatment (FLT) represents an exciting new advance in skin rejuvenation. Combining the best characteristics of previous laser skincare technology, the Fraxel® laser boasts the precision and power of ablative treatments (those which use heat to vaporize unwanted skin cells) along with the safety and quick recovery time of non-ablative procedures.

Fraxel® laser treatments use the science of Fractional Photothermolysis to divide the treatment area into thousands of microscopic sections called MicroThermalZones (MTZ). The incredible precision of this technology allows the Fraxel® laser to keep the skin around each target zone intact, allowing the dermal tissue to recover and tighten much faster after the procedure. Meanwhile, the targeted areas, or MTZs, act like tiny, harmless wounds within the skin, triggering the body to produce brand new, healthy skin cells and collagen—a substance crucially important to the smoothness of skin. As an end result, the body's new skin combines with the skin untouched by the laser, creating a quick, thorough, and noticeable rejuvenation with fewer risks, side effects, or downtime.

How Long Does this Procedure Take?

Fractional Laser Resurfacing is a very quick treatment, usually lasting no longer than 30 minutes.

Swollen skin and redness is typical aftrel Fraxel treatment.  Some peeling skin is also to be expected, however, there is significantly less peeling than with other Laser Skin Resurfacing.

Length of Fraxel Results:

Fractional Laser Resufracing will not stop the aging process, but it will permanently treat existing wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and even surgical scars. As with other laser and light based treatments, you will require more than one treatment to notice results. Fraxel Recovery Time:

There is no recovery time involved with this treatment, but some people do opt to keep a low profile after treatment as their skin often looks swollen, red, and peels within the first week after treatment.

Topical numbing creams can help alleviate any pain you may feel during treatment. Most people who have had Fractional Laser Resurfacing before would probably say the laser gets quite hot during treatment and they felt a mild to moderate burning sensation.
