Cellulaze Review: New Cellulite Removal Treatment Earns FDA Nod

cellulaze review

One of the more popular cellulite treatments in Europe and Canada, Cellulaze™, has finally made its way stateside. Recently, Cellulaze earned the stamp of approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the cosmetic treatment of cellulite. Developed by Cynosure, Inc, Cellulaze is a minimally invasive procedure that targets the lumps and bumps of the thighs, abdomen, buttocks, and hips. Cellulaze claims that it’s the only procedure available that targets the structural aspects of cellulite, which is why it’s so effective. Cellulaze’s FDA approval could be good news for people with stubborn cellulite that is ill-responsive to other treatment methods.

How Cellulaze Works: A Different Approach

Contrary to popular belief, cellulite isn’t strictly caused by excess fat. The “cottage cheese” effect occurs on men and women due to aging, genetics, hormones, and dramatic weight changes. Any of these factors may cause the connective tissue underneath the skin to stiffen, and the fat cells to push up against the surface of the skin. The result is cellulite—physically harmless, but aesthetically unpleasant. Cellulaze attacks the structural elements of cellulite by treating the distinctive bands beneath the skin. The procedure also thickens the outermost layers of the skin, so that cellulite is less likely to show.

At your Cellulaze session, the first thing the technician will do is inspect your skin for areas of cellulite. Then, he or she will make a few tiny incisions throughout the treatment area. The incisions are roughly the size of a pen tip. Depending on the technician, he or she will then apply either a topical numbing cream or a local anesthetic. A tiny cannula is inserted into the incision, and the Sidelight™ 3D laser treatment begins.

Sidelight is Cellulaze’s patented laser thread that is strung through the cannula. The laser fights cellulite by burning off unlevel fat deposits. It also targets the characteristic dimples of cellulite while increasing collagen and elastin production. Unlike the lasers used in other cellulite treatments like VelaSmooth™ and Arasys, Cellulaze’s Sidelight does not have to penetrate through layers of skin and tissue to reach fat targets. Plus, the fat that Sidelight liquefies is gently pressed out of the body instead of absorbing back into it.

The fat you lose with Cellulaze disappears forever, and you’ll be left with smoother skin that’s also thicker and healthier looking.

Cellulaze Pain, Side Effects, and Risks

The entire Cellulaze procedure takes about an hour. Bruising, swelling, and redness are expected and will subside within a couple of days. Fluid may continue to leak from the incision sites after your Cellulaze session, so some cosmetic professionals may recommend you wear a compression garment. You’ll be able to return to work and other light activity a day after treatment, and strenuous activity in a week. The results of Cellulaze will be apparent immediately and will continue to improve over the next 3-12 months.
