Rodan & Fields Anti-Age AMP MD: Product Review
by Gary K. Johnson
Made by Rodan and Fields Dermatologists, the company behind Pro Activ, Anti-Age AMP MD is a new anti-aging package that has been making headlines as the next big thing in self-care cosmetics. Read on to find out what it is and what people are saying about it.
What Anti-Age AMP MD and how does it work?
The main attraction of the Anti-Age AMP MD System is the dermaroller. This apparatus resembles a manual razor, except that instead of a flat metal blade at the wide end, there is a roller fitted with scores of small needles. When the dermaroller is rolled over the facial and neck skin, these surgical grade, stainless steel acupuncture needles create incisions in the skin, termed “microchannels” by Rodan & Fields.
According to Rodan & Fields, there are two benefits to microchannels. One is that they permit anti-aging creams to penetrate below the surface layers of skin. The second is that damaging the surface layer of the skin can trigger a repair response by the skin which stimulates collagen production—a fact known and utilized by laser skin therapists. The minute size and prolific amount of needles prevents there from being too much pain associated with the activity.
The rolling process takes a minute and should be followed with application of skin care products. Rodan & Fields recommends the roller be used in conjunction with their Anti-Age Regimen for the most effective anti-aging results.
How much does AMP MD cost?
The complete Rodan & Fields Anti-Age AMP MD System will set you back $200. This package includes one reusable AMP MD roller, a two month supply of Night Renewing Serum, a reusable Cleansing Vial, and a two-month supply of Purification Tablets.
What They Say About Anti-Age AMP MD
The Anti-Aging AMP MD website boasts that every single one of its clinical trial participants experienced an improvement in skin texture by 8 weeks. It goes on to state that 89% noticed improvement in fine lines and 84% saw an overall improvement in appearance and moisturization. Other information on the trials is somewhat limited. For instance, the website does not state whether these patients had been using skin care products previously. There is also no mention of patients who used skin care products without the dermaroller, to provide a comparison.
Outside the AMP MD website, there are a bevy of websites touting the invention of the AMP MD dermaroller. However, there are surprisingly few reports by those who have actually used the product and experienced positive results. Admittedly, a product like this is intrinsically difficult to review, as results (according to the product description) may take 3 to 9 months to appear. More personal reviews may appear in the future.
One noteworthy review comes from Allure magazine. In January of 2011, the AMD MD roller was awarded “Best Anti-Aging Product of 2011” by the magazine giant. While the AMD MD roller may indeed deserve the title, one has to question awarding a product “Best of the Year” when the year is merely a month old!
Overall, it is difficult to determine to what extent Rodan & Fields AMP MD System delivers lasting results, but as with any cosmetic treatment, Healthy Skin Portal recommends speaking with a professional anti-aging specialist before determining what type of skin care solution will work best for you. If you’re interested in learning more about these options, you can set up a free consultation with a qualified skin care specialist in your area by contact us at the number or form on this page.
